Some thoughts on Katrina, New Orleans, and Jesse Jackson

Rants

Several days after Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf coast, New Orleans is finally getting some help, but it still looks like a scene out of Escape from New York. I heard last night that the race warfare pimp Jesse Jackson is heading there. I wondered how long it would take before he quit smooching the ass of Hugo Chavez, the communist thug in Venezuela, and head to the next place where he could get his mug in front of a camera.

Now, I haven't heard anyone say this yet, but I wonder how long it will take Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, or some other race warlord to make the accusation that the reason help has been slow in getting to New Orleans is because all the people left behind are black. (Update: I was right, Jackson's already claimed the response was slow due to racism.[Sorry, article appears to be gone.] [Use BugMeNot for a login and password to get around the stupid registration.])

While I do feel sorry for the people left behind, they were warned to leave via a mandatory evacuation order. They have to bear some of the responsibility for their current dilemma.

I don't have the words to describe the scorn I have for the bands of roaming thugs in New Orleans who are looting, killing, and raping.

People are frustrated with the apparent lack of action of the government. Many people have been led to depend on the government for everything for their entire lives. This disaster, however, points out how government doesn't work. The best way for things to happen is for individuals to take responsibility and make things happen themselves.
